Therapy for Creatives
Are you a prolific songwriter but you never actually share any of your work? Perhaps you work for a creative agency but have been promoted away from the artistic work that originally brought you joy. Do you have ambition to take to the stage and deliver a stand-up routine, act in a play, or do improv comedy?
I work with people with interests across the creative professions and performing arts. You may be just starting out or a seasoned professional. Wherever you are on your path, I can help.
We all have versions of the “I’m not good enough” or the “I can’t do this anymore” stories.
Most creatives experience moments when self-doubt, the demands of everyday life, or the relentless pressure of the creative industries prevent them from taking that crucial next step.
Above all, you will identify what you truly value and what kind of person you want to be.
While working with me, you will learn to acknowledge your critical thoughts, self-doubt, and fears.
You will begin to understand how our minds are actually trying to protect us from the inevitable discomfort of new challenges.
By developing tools to manage unwelcome thoughts and sensations, you’ll be equipped to make room for discomfort without letting it stop you. Acknowledge the fear, but then keep going.
This knowledge will serve as a guiding light showing the path to a more fulfilling life.
Credentials
I am a licensed therapist with over twenty years of experience helping people through talk therapy and the creative arts. I integrate Creative Arts Therapy with CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to bring to conscious awareness the ways we hold ourselves back and to enable you to strive towards your goals and aspirations.
When working with me you may choose to make use of your artistic passion within therapy. Creative writing, visual art making, songwriting or countless other pursuits can be an enlightening way to externalize themes that arise during therapy. This can also be a way to document and illustrate the growth and confidence that often arises through skills-building and taking actions aligned with your values.
